No personal experience with ceramic watches but ceramic in general, although hard, can be brittle, so it can crack much easier than it can be scratched.

I know JLC makes at lease one cermet watch, which is a compromise between the toughness of metal and the hardness of ceramic which I would imagine wouldn't be as prone to cracking.
If durability is your concern, Rado and others make tungsten carbide models. I've had a TC Rado for years that looks as good today as when it was new although it's very heavy for its size.

I don't currently own a ceramic watch, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one and simply insure it against accidental damage/breakage. The only ceramic watches I might hesitate to own are those for which replacement cases are no longer available, like the IWC...
