Horological Meandering

Hi, Thanks for your comments and suggestions regarding the manual wind dress watches. It was quite helpful as usual. I have expanded my scope now to include automatic watches and I have found three that seem attractive to me. I will share both information...  

My wrist is 200 mm and 38 mm of MUT is just perfect. I wave this watch in RG and brown dial. It's stunning and my watch is also very accurate. MUT has been the cheapest of my dress watches and still, I would easily place it to top three. In my opinion sec...

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion. I do like indeed like the Calibre 849 in the MUT 38 mm as well as its size. I do not however care for the pink dial on the rose gold version (134.24.20)and I know that I will miss not having a seconds hand. I know that ther...

This is the most interesting 175th Anniversary watch, IMO. Nice glimpse to the foundation of the LeCoultre Factory, in a superb case with a delicious chocolate dial... And the awesome Cal 849, nicely decorated, and correctly finished. Best, Nicolas....  

I am with Nicholas halfway ... I hate a date on a dress watch, but I think a seconds hand is OK. I think the best optionn for you might be an old Lange 1815, which can be had for a relative song and are just wonderful. Best Andreas

I bookmarked this thread because of this fantastic list. I would also consider the JLC ultra thin moonphase date in steel. Its 39mm and has a beautiful silver-ish dial that is a knockout in the metal. I think watches like the patek 5196p and lange saxonia... 

Hi Def winner in my opinion - tried at QP event in London in November. Could have quite happily walked off with it on my wrist & the only thing that stopped me is that they had my master moon! It does wear quite small as well - which for me is a positive.... 

It is a very balanced watch despite its large size. Careful: it looks bigger than it is actually due to the thin bezel. And the two others are far from convincing me. Fx

if you ever resold the watch, I think you would find these don't move. Based on my observations, the "Jules Audemar" model watches just don't seem to bring decent prices, if they ever sell. The Breguet is not convincing to me - and some styling touches ec... 

Cazalea, Interestingly, I have purchase watches with a watches ability to hold value for resale as factor. I suppose if I did, I would own only Patek Philippe and Rolex. Do others really consider this when purchasing a watch? I like the AP more than the P... 

This U-N watch is out of production but I like it a lot, now that you are including automatics. it's called the San Marco Gigante - about 40 mm and in rose gold (though it looks yellowish in this image) (Image from the web)...

I don't own one, but it is one of the best looking 3-handed watches on the market. It has a manual wound movement and is on the pricey side, so I'm not sure it meets your criteria. Of the three you presented, I like the JLC the most, followed by the AP an... 

In my humble definition and taste, dress watch must be in white metal must not wear the owner (read: should not attract too much attention). Black-tie event - black jacket, white shirts, black tie -> can't think of any watch other than smallish white meta...
