Conventional charity is not to be denied; even joyrides cannot put food on the table!
Regarding cars, I was fortunate to grow up in New York with excellent local collector car events and a wonderful (albeit 8-month-per year, winter inhibiting) car club culture. Also, I benefitted from the annual extravaganza of the New York Auto Show to bring all the highlights of LA, Detroit, Chicago, and the international auto shows to my hometown at a single venue. As I later learned with watches, these interests become enduring lifestyles as one is attracted by the machines but ultimately stays for the fraternity and fellowship of other enthusiasts.
