In the 30s, 40s, 50s and early sixties...

 

I think Rolex and Omega were equals...each having the edge at different times and in different areas.  In the seventies I think Omega (and much of the Swiss watch industry) went "disco" and lost focus and fell victim to the the great quarts axe.  As for modern Omegas (and Rolexes), I don't think there is a maker alive who doesn't experience a "watch from hell" escaping from the factory now and then.
