The word "authentic" is used in French as an adjective indicating "really good" rather than "genuine".
I found this is a trend also from the jewellery and watch copywriters in recent press releases.
The sexy words for every luxury product launch are "authentic", "new" and "luxurious".
As horology editor, I usually delete or substiture those descriptive words to more "authentic" and justifiable ones.
As this is a car copywriter's output, I left it alone; what do I know?
