I am not too sure about "High-End" when it comes to Quartz movements... But...

My long-term complaint has been about the battery life. My Mrs. has an older all-gold/diamond AP-RO with the monocoque case. It is Quartz. It costs a small fortune for AP Clearwater to replace the battery every 3 years. The cost of ownership is out of whack on this one since you must open up the entire thing to change the battery.
Then there is the old Seiko Kinetic Quartz. We gave one to my Father In Law maybe 25 years ago. It has never been serviced and it still runs. That one was, and remains, a deal.
On the other hand, for me, this one is ideal. Made of almost totally scratch-proof Tungsten Carbide with an EIGHT YEAR battery life. That makes this kind of Quartz more acceptable to me.
Stay safe Folks!

Is anyone on here adamantly opposed to quartz watches, or could you live with a high end quartz watch?

Grand Seiko quarts as an example is a piece of art. Another very high quality movement is Rolex Quartz as you find it in the oyster quartz models. If I could afford it, that would be my daily beater and I could retire my trusted old 1601. Old-timer quartz...

Which are very well made and super accurate. One to +/- 10secs per year. One to +/- 5secs per year. They look great, are well made inside and out, so for me they form a valuable part of a broad based collection. Gary

Quartz just doesn't excite me very much. It's like electric cars vs gasoline cars. But, are electric cars generally "better" than gasoline cars? Probably. They're faster, they respond incredibly, etc. etc. etc. That being said, I currently drive two cars;...
