I agree the 34mm

has a tension that is fantastic. I was driven by SteveG's photos, to order exactly what SteveG had. It was those photos which essentially rendered me 'insane'. I remember a sort of big Patek guy telling me about the Dufour, when Dufour was unknown... except to extreme collectors. Patek guy scoffed... in his gruff voice... "Forty K for a time only watch!?" Clearly this was many years ago... And he was obviously referring to gold, not pt. He thought it was f-ing nuts, to quote him. I remember searching every scrap of info or photos I could find of this watch, and I was just in the right place at the right time. I have children now and would not be so crazily 'selfish'. But then if this was today, these watches would be offered at 100K or more, I think we all know that would be the case. Look at what Smith asks... etc. Anyway, so many memories of this ultimate watch, for me.
I chose the 37mm because of Steve G but also because, probably, as an American, I do like things a little bigger. 37 still can be regarded as small, so it was a no brainer to decide, in our modern world. I have not seen a 34mm in person, (or any other Simplicity other than mine, in person) but I do love the 34mm in pics, and the way the hands look larger on the dial is very nice. There may be an even purer look to the dial, if that is possible. But then, I would still choose 37mm, to view the sharp tips of the hands moving around that outer track.... as time elapses... wow, literal visual poem, ongoing...
This watch is so meaningful... every independent watch I see, I refer back to Dufour... wish I wore mine more... but the time will come for that... I do wind mine regularly and each time, this sense of a mortal magic, a connection to something I could never dream I could own... passes through the fingers... the heart... it is one of the very few things in life that lives up to its legend.
