Greatissime post, Dave!
Many of us will recognize themselves in your journey into watches, the doubts, the psychological " brakes ", the different steps and so on.
It is great to share this with our Community.
And to explain, in your conclusion, the different lessons you learned and how your taste evolved during all these years.
That is the unbeatable asset of a good horological website.
I just realized that we had many common points, not only in watches, as our collections seem to include several pieces, but in our personal journey. Almost the same time, the same steps, and something very funny: The friendship with one dealer.
Which was the case for Ulysse Nardin: Maybe you remember when I wrote what my dealer did to me when I got my UN watches.
Sometimes, I was a bit short of money, and he didn't care: " You want that watch? Take it, you will pay when you can ".... It was the case for the Sonata, among several other pieces...
At that time, it was the first Sonata delivered in France....
A pity he was bought by IWC who wanted to have their first Boutique in Paris...
The impact of internet, and especially, the PuristS and Watchprosite, in our tastes, through our discussions, has big " undisputable ", too.
Thank you so much for this article, Dave.

Best, my friend.
