Horological Meandering

Great thread!

I am completely in a phase of consolidation and therefore I unterstand your thoughts so much.

Possessing too many things sounds like a luxury first world problem but it really can be a burden.

So I have made the decision to get rid of any watch I don’t like anymore and/or don’t wear enough.

As a consequence I made a list of 10 watches that are ready for a trade.

As a first action I am going to sell my new bought Patek 5146G and some other first owned pieces to fund a watch that has been a grail for me for more than two decades: a vintage IWC Minute Repeater in Platinum.

So I in this case I will make 1 hot dream watch out of 3 in the meantime „lukewarm“ pieces and still have to pay some extra charge which is ok for me.

My next goal is a nice perpetual calendar for which another 4-5 watches plus some extra money will have to leave.

And I must confess: this all feels really good! 😊

P.S.: At the moment I learn very much about value retention and former buying strategies that manifest to be wrong. My conclusion: Forget al the strategies. It´s an emotional hobby, and if you let your heart decide it can´t be wrong.
