Horological Meandering

Good day for introductions…

Hello all,

My friend’s post yesterday (L.Joel – “First time poster, long time lurker...”) has inspired me, so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to this community. It is always a matter of curiosity when new people show up on discussion forums, so I thought I would share a little about myself with your permission.

My name is Sam Yukon, I have also been a long time lurker on this these forums, and I have always been thoroughly impressed with this community. The depth of knowledge, inspiring photography and gentlemanly interactions are all just wonderful.

Mechanical timepieces completely fascinate me, and have for most of my adult life. I am a former moderator for TimeZone.com's Breguet Forum and Ulysse Nardin Forum. Currently I am seated juror for the annual “Couture Time” watch competition in Las Vegas, and had the pleasure of serving this year with your General Manager, Anthony Tsai, in this capacity. We also shared a pleasant dinner with our significant others and fellow jurors which was one highlight of the event this year.

In my spare time, I also do some freelance journalism and photography and have recently started contributing articles to International Watch Magazine. For anyone interested, my latest writing for them may be found in the current August 2012 issue on page 90. It is titled “Tackling Time” and discusses how people, including myself, combine their passion for angling, horology and the outdoors.

I am blessed to own an award winning printing & graphic design company in a small East Texas town in the southern United States. I hold an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. I spent 20+ years working in my family's former business, an engineering & metal fabrication shop that designed and built custom heavy industrial equipment from 1918-1999. I am married and love spending time with my wife, friends and church family.

While I already have some friends who are members here, I look forward to participating more actively in this community and getting to know more of you over time.

Cheers,

Sam Yukon
