Fascinating story, and thanks very much . . .

. . . for sharing.  I've told the story of my engraved Seamaster DeLuxe many times; of the Tiffany-signed ref 2364, never.

The initials on the back, BFW, stood for Bernard F Walker.  Prompted by your post, I searched for online records.  This . . .

. . . is what I found.

The Omega came from Bernard's estate sale, which featured a Breitling chronograph from the same era as well as a significant collection of ceramics.  What I didn't realize until just now is that the estate sale occurred while he was still alive.  Going by memory of the original eBay listing, the watch must have been in the hands of the estate buyer for well over a year before Walker died.

Walker was, according to the estate buyer, an inventor, creating (and patenting) the process of coating plastic with metal film.  A genealogy website gives his wife's name as Eleanor, who preceded him in death by almost half a century.  They had four children, whose names are not public knowledge.

I wonder why the estate was sold off before his passing.  Perhaps he was in long-term care and needed to pay bills.

Confused,

Art

wear it to the office, come home and take it off, repeat process the next day. Now that I am stuck at home, I find it fun to change watches a couple of times a day. It lets me wear some that don't typically get much wrist time, such as my vintage watches ...

Many vintage watches will have seen interesting times, some happy and some desperately sad. As I said in my post - if only they could talk. Regards Kev.
