Fair question, which deserves . . .

. . . an answer.  The primary reason for requesting disclosure is to verify content is noncommercial in nature.  A fundamental principle of this site is that the forums should be free of promotion, overt or covert.  Friends would not engage in conversation with ulterior motives.  And one the roles of a moderator is to ensure probity prevails.

I asked because it seemed odd a new member would be creating threads about an obscure manufacturer, replete with multiple images.  One instance could be put down to honest curiosity.  The second raised my curiosity.  And, apparently, the curiosity of an established community member.  That's why I posed the question to our original poster: potential for the perception, mistaken or otherwise, of a thread created with intent to promote a commercial interest could be taken as contrary to the ethos of this site.   Glad to say our OP passed the challenge with flying colors.

As for your suggestion concerning prior instances where established members of the community were involved with commercial projects being hypocritical: you have a point.  And well taken.

Devil's counter: do you remember what Jefferson had to say about consistency?

All I can say about your first example is that I was the last person in the world to know. As for the second, I'm learning just now from you.
