When can a watch be described as unworn?

 By: Uncle Chico : November 21st, 2022-17:40
I recently found a watch on a jeweller’s website that advertised it as being unworn. A video on the same site showcasing the watch shows a store representative putting it on his wrist and wearing it for the remainder of the video. Is it still accurate to ...

I would say so (taking the liberal view)

I would say it's worn if it left the store on someone's wrist, then came back returned.

To me, it should not be marketed as unworn. If the watch is in gold, there will more than likely be micro-scratches and swirling. If the protective stickers are still on then fine that can be classified as unworn.

Micro scratches would be an issue.

fine case wear marks

unworn-the watchcase should be clear of the fine wear marks that get there when worn under a shirt cuff etc in other words it should be pristine and as it left the factory polishing machine. if the case has these fine wear marks then it would be classed a...

what about all those watches that are placed every morning in the window and taken back at night

I know that this process leads to scratches and dongs as well but anyway they are marketed as unworn. I am actually more afraid of those timepieces that have had their time in windows

+1! ;-)

So look further for a real unworn. I had bought a new watch, but it was damaged. I polished like hell, and i was and am very disappointed about the AD. King’s house deliverer. So a titel do not secure an AD is good. I bought at a grey dealer who deliver b...

I just saw this now, and tend to agree with the previous friends -- assuming that's the extent this watch got worn, I think it is fair to advertise it as 'unworn' (plus, that the video is on the same site would also seem evidence of good faith ;-)

However, I would also query the seller on *their* definition of 'unworn' (and ask whether any other 'wearing' took place), just for peace of mind ;-) Looking forward to seeing it on your wrist Uncle Chico, if all goes as expected! Cheers.

worn or not worn

if the watch is worn there would be skin cells that collect on the watch case etc and are clearly visible as small flakes of skin.-lovely i know!! if there is a leather strap fitted there would be ware to one or more of the holes from the prong of the buc...

If a used watch shows no

signs of wear, many used watch dealers will market the watch as being in "unworn condition" Nobody can say what a used watch has gone through while owned by other folks, now can they. This does not mean it was never worn just that it shows no signs of wea...

study a new watch straight from the factory and one that is advertised as unworn by using a 4x loupe and see the differences. study the whole watch. with experience you will be able to do this and determine straight away. other than the question of worn o...
