It’s a 50s Hanhart 417
I guess it appears modern because the modern watches are mimicking it? But the tell tale sign is the subdial position on the modern watches usually have them cram towards the centre of the dial and don’t have the balanced look of the vintage.

Yes I think it’s the Hanhart flieger chronograph

If you're asking why the 417 is such a personally compelling design, my take . . .
. . . is that the offset smaller-than-usual sub-dials set it apart from most others. Not that I know this for a fact, but my hunch is there's a golden ratio aspect to the layout and proportions of the 417's dial. Art
