Aside from the chronograph theme, I like that you're drawn to more classical stylings (my taste also). Many of your chronos are based on designs that were in their pomp between the 1930s and 1960s.

As for that 'empty slot challenge,' sometimes I feel it's worth keeping it that way as a visual reminder that there's a world of possibility out there. At the same time it's so satisfying to have a full box to contemplate.
If you do go ahead and fill it, perhaps you could consider a tonneau or rectangular chronograph, maybe a 1990s Franck Muller, Roger Dubuis or the like. Also, although I don't have one, I've always felt that Carrera Heuer chronographs have the most perfectly sized, proportioned and positioned subdials in all of watchmaking. They're almost always good to look at.
