A Modern Watch Tale…

Here is an imaginary interview between a Potential Buyer (PB) and a Watch Executive (WE)…all in good fun : )

PB: I came across an article on Watchtime and was intrigued. Tutima has had some pretty cool sport watch offerings, and this dress watch seems great, so I wanted some more information. Thanks for taking the time to speak with me.

WE: No problem. Glad to help.

PB: I like the idea of a manually-wound movement in a dress watch. That will make it nice and thin, right?

WE: Umm, 11.2mm is thin-sh I guess. I mean, thinner than a Rolex Submariner if that’s what you’re getting at.

PB: That does seem a bit thick for a 38mm case, doesn’t it?

WE: Actually, the case is 43mm so we think it’s quite proportional.

PB: I’m not a Sumo Wrestler or NFL lineman. Maybe it will ‘wear smaller.’

WE: One never knows.

PB: At least with that size I’ll be getting quite a bit of water resistance, not that I’ll need it, but always good to be safe.

WE: Water resistance is 5atm. We destroy Patek in this regard.

PB: The price ($28,800) seems a bit stiff for a Swiss watch, even one with an in-house movement.

WE: It’s German. Lange charges roughly the same for their Saxonia Thin.

PB: Actually, the Lange Saxonia Thin is a bit less. I guess the deployant clasp would add to the price.

WE: It has a regular buckle. 

PB: I’m sure part of the cost is the exclusivity of a Limited Edition and holding its value on the secondary market.

WE: It’s not limited, but being a new offering there is no price history.

PB: Well, if you’re anything like Patek, at least I won’t lose any money down the line.

Watch executive leaves the room abruptly and heads home to update his resume…
