The danger of walking around in London!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-11:20
There I was yesterday walking in London looking for the new FP Journe boutique when I saw this lovely clock displayed at the window of Asprey which was located next door. My visit to FPJ lasted less than three minutes as I could not wait to turn back to A...

Thank you Ajas!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:36
I think so too. A watch with similar complications might cost 100 times more!

Hahaha, hilarious post

 By: ChristianDK : January 26th, 2024-11:47
Huge congratulations my friend. That is just lovely. I fully understand you falling in love. At first when I saw your post I was dreading something bad had happened. Phew 😮‍💨 It doesn’t happen often anymore that we see something in a window and then get t...

Hello Christian and thank you!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:41
Yes it is indeed rare to find something wonderful that can be bought instantly these days but it just shows that if the timing is right and if Lady Luck is smiling at us, anything is possible! And for the record, I am on the waiting list for a 40mm Elegan...

Lady Luck smiles at us

 By: ChristianDK : January 26th, 2024-22:08
I like that! Very happy to hear you’re on the list. I think the 40,will be great for you. 🫶🤗

Thank you for saying so Christian!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:19
I have been trained to wait for watches so 4 to 5 years is fine with me

😂👍

 By: ChristianDK : January 26th, 2024-23:05

But this would be the longest wait

 By: sham1 : January 27th, 2024-05:52
for a quartz watch!

Actually beautiful!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 26th, 2024-11:51
The picture didn't show up on the front page so I said to myself, "how beautiful could it be?" Well, it's gorgeous, thank you for sharing!

It is indeed gorgeous

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:42
Not quite a day date in platinum but a lovely clock is for everyone to enjoy whereas a watch is only for me to enjoy!

Thank you for the reassurance!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:44
I was a bit worried about the reliability of the quarter repeater and grand sonnerie and the clock expert at Asprey was kind enough to spend a prolonged amount of time to explain to me what to do and what not to!

Congratulations on a beautiful clock.

 By: Champthekid : January 26th, 2024-13:34
Love the fluted bezel. Where have I seen that before? 😁

Thank you for your reply!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:49
Indeed the bezel resembles a Patek Calatrava and I would be delighted if it can function half as reliably and as accurately as one!

Mrs Sham1: I hope you didn't buy yet another watch.

 By: U3O8 : January 26th, 2024-13:40
Sham1: No dear, I most certainly did not buy another watch.

I actually read out your post to my wife!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:51
and we both laughed! For the record, I did drag her to Asprey to see the clock before pulling the trigger. It was to avoid her pulling THE trigger at me!

Congrats on a Beautiful Clock from a Legendary House

 By: SALMANPK : January 26th, 2024-13:45
If they played the game, they could have been bigger than Cartier S

Thank you Salman!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:54
And I agree. They have downsized again and again with a number of ownership changes unfortunately. Still, they carry some really nice things and remain somewhat a hidden gem relatively to the big brands.

Thank you Nico!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:56
As I am unable to afford a watch with these complications, I am more than satisfied and pleased at being able to find a clock that can entertain me

Yes very few made apparently

 By: sham1 : January 27th, 2024-09:11
I just got lucky as this was the first one made and Asprey would like a plaque placed on the wooden base to recognise this.

I am SO jealous

 By: xto : January 26th, 2024-14:40
Not a huge fan of the Rolex tribute aspects but that is a handsome clock!

Thank you for the compliment!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-21:57
I was just most fortunate to bump into this clock.

This is amazing

 By: EinPa : January 26th, 2024-14:56
And I can see why you fell in love with it. Can you tell us more about the age, movement and the manufacturer? As I recall Asprey was a “reseller” in that they white labeled others work.

Given the inscription on the back. The manufacturer is German. Kieninger.

 By: hora12reborn : January 26th, 2024-15:29
According to their website they seem to make great stuff.

Yes they do indeed!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:07
Clockmakers in my opinion do not receive the recognition that they deserve in comparison to watchmakers. Companies like Matthias Naschke, Sinclair Harding, Comiitti, Kieninger, Erwin Sattler, L'Epee all make some wonderful clocks.

You are most welcome!

 By: sham1 : January 30th, 2024-08:43
All the best in your search for an ideal clock. There are so many good ones around that one would be spoiled for choice.

The clock is brand new

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:01
and is made by a German company called Kieninger who make high end clocks. I am afraid I can't tell you much else except that only a handful of these clocks will be available at Aspreys. Mine apparently was the first one made.

Congratulations Sham.

I see you’ve gotten over worrying about your wrist size. When something is that beautiful size should not be a concern.

Agreed Mike!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:10
Although the dimensions of the clock are also important as I have a small home but this one was perfect size wise. It is always great to see a clock and immediately know exactly where it will reside in one's home!

That's sooo wonderful Sham

I will be zooming down to Asprey asap. Hearty congratulations!! Kindest regards Antony

Thank you Antony!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:14
I have mentioned to Behzad, the clock expert at Asprey that you will be visiting and he only has one clock left similar to mine although he has two others with a makassar wood base and a white bezel instead of gold. Hope you manage to get there and appare...

Wow huge congratulations my friend. A amazing Clock

 By: Watchonthewrists : January 26th, 2024-19:38
I also bought a new clock this week . Definitely a good distraction from our watches sometimes.

Thank you my friend!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:14
I now have two nice mechanical clocks so I am a happy man!

Seems a no brainer...

 By: Ronald Held : January 26th, 2024-20:30
Unless your wife objects.

She saw the look in my eyes!

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:16
So she could not possibly have said no especially as she had been presented two handbags in two days!

Sounds equitable for everyone. (nt)

 By: Ronald Held : January 28th, 2024-20:19
NT

It was coincidentally equitable

 By: sham1 : January 29th, 2024-03:59
as the two handbags cost almost as much as the clock! So l picked up a leather jacket for her just to make sure!

Wise move on your part. (nt)

NT

Ha! Ha!

 By: sham1 : January 30th, 2024-17:52
Thanks Ronald!

I love the dial and bezel

 By: sham1 : January 26th, 2024-22:18
ok, ok, I love the movement too and the walnut base and the choice of three grand sonnerie tunes!

I think the last time we met in person on accident was on Bond Street in London!

 By: patrick_y : January 27th, 2024-01:15
And indeed, it can be very dangerous to walk around Bond Street in London!

Indeed!

 By: sham1 : January 27th, 2024-05:54
Bond Street is an accident waiting to happen! It should carry a health warning

That signage

 By: sham1 : January 29th, 2024-03:56
would actually attract more people down that street as they would see it as a challenge!

Bond Street should elect me as their "Mayor of Bond Street."

 By: patrick_y : January 30th, 2024-06:16
I'll come up with all the good marketing quips!

You should be banned from Bond Street Patrick! :-)

 By: sham1 : January 30th, 2024-08:41
New marketing techniques will bankrupt the likes of me.

Thank you for your good wishes!

 By: sham1 : January 27th, 2024-09:08
I am looking forward to many years of ownership pleasure!

Stunningly beautiful ...

 By: Marcus Hanke : January 28th, 2024-11:37
... and I appreciate the additional dust protection of the escapement. Marcus

Thank you Marcus for your kind remark!

 By: sham1 : January 29th, 2024-03:57
I seldom see a clock that ticks all the boxes but this one did and more!

Thank you for your kind words!

 By: sham1 : January 30th, 2024-04:09
l am happy for me too!
