i would "switch" to classic dress watches :)
Mar 21, 2018,18:24 PM
I think the watch industry is going "crazy" and they are banging hard on the consumers' desires and urges, but as always with time, those can fade away lol.
Or stop buying watches for a while to calm the heart (which i am planning to take a break)
Regards

What is happening with the horological world ???
By: Horology75 : March 21st, 2018-13:59
Hi, It is something serious to ponder. If you are a customer looking for a good steel sports or casual watch then you are doomed . Rolex : Rolex Daytona , sky dweller , submariner hulk or even Gmt are not avbl as walk in and you’d have to pay silly premiu...

In a marketplace with high interest and demand, those that have the strongest position are attempting to counter the grey market. It may work or it may back fire, only time will tell. Unfortunately the heart wants what the heart wants, but if you can get ...
Our desires (often irrational) are our own worst enemies.
By: vitalsigns : March 21st, 2018-14:54
There are many worthy watches out there. Why is it that so many want stainless sport Rolexes, stainless Pateks and stainless APs...? Well, because others want them badly too, of course... Yes, those watches have merit on their own, but the desire to own t...

half those pieces mentioned were walk in and try and buy pieces, actually especially the older Nautilus the unloved fugly 3710 with the Roman numerals and the quirky power reserve; and the proper Jumbo languished in dealers at pretty much the price of a S...
I can agree with Part 1 but not sure about Part 2
By: MTF : March 22nd, 2018-09:49
Part 1 is a basic requirement like the theory section of a driving or flying examination. Part 2 may impinge on the right of choice that is unrelated to the vagaries of fate of genetics, nature or nurture. Regards, MTF

Get creative and think outside the box.
There are so many watches out there

This is no longer watch industry, it's luxury factory. Doesn't matter too much the product, you simply buy an expensive branded item. Be thankful they're so kind to accept your millions 😁😁😁😁😁😁

This is a really good observation

And on the vintage Rolex side I have basically given up hunting because the prices are in a stratosphere which happened so quickly that takes the fun away.

A few points:
By: remarque : March 21st, 2018-20:11
1) Owning and acquiring watches as a discretionary activity should be enjoyable/fun and make one happy! 2) Watch companies have their own agendas. Rolex Company, with regard to its Rolex watch line, seems to be more interested in maintaining an image with...

Here's a report on mine www.watchprosite.com / The MT56xx movements are solid. The only thing holding them back is Rolex themselves and some of their aesthetics. Velociphile

I agree, Mo: The power of the cabal is self perpetuating
By: MTF : March 22nd, 2018-08:24
The biggest problem is the self perpetuating demand driven by a small cabal of "enthusiasts" even on our own forums here in watchprosite.. Our worse enemies are within. I've been out of touch with Audemars Piguet to know if they are playing the 'game' but...

I agree that Rolex is setting a high reference level, regarding the quality of (simpler) movements. If you count complications, such as chronographs, or GMT mechanisms, there are many other manufacturers who concentrated on these since a long time, while ...
Don't overlook the Independents!
By: toddg : March 22nd, 2018-07:44

Worse still: the halo effect does not last
By: MTF : March 22nd, 2018-08:30
Horology75, You're correct about the frustration for new collectors and those of limited means. The true test of the hypothesis is that the 'halo' effect does not last long. When you slow down or stop buying 10 watches a year, your halo loses its shine. T...
A game some
By: watch-er : March 22nd, 2018-09:05
manufacturers may ultimately lose as they alienate more and more customers through artificial reductions in production resulting in sky-high prices that have no relationship to the intrinsic value of the watch.
Go Independent i would say 😉
By: Watchonthewrists : March 27th, 2018-23:13
Ofcourse you have to wait also before its done but then you have a watch thats unique imo
