I really value other collectors opinions!

I collect watches as a hobby. I have I have at least 10 Universal Geneve vintage watches! Tri-compax, areo-compax, uni-compax etc...I've always wanted a UG Polerouter Sub. Bought one online and wanted you experts out there your opinions. Thanks to EVERYONE who responded! I've examined the watch very carefully. It's looks good, but I only wish I had a %100 mint one to compare it too. The asians and europeans can make some very good Frankenwatches these days. It's hard to believe that they would put so much effort to fake a UG, as opposed to a Rolex or PP. But you never know. I've looked at MANY pictures of Polerouters Sub online. They all look VERY similar to mine. I'm leaning that the watch is genuine, but I'm going to show it to dealer here in Houston, that is an expert on copies. I've been very busy at work, that why I've not had time to respond to the posts made. Thanks again,

Roland

Bought on the net. Real or fake?...

Please...Thanks. It would be a real minimum, don't you think?

Anyway... It is good. Best, Nicolas

I did not....

know that UG made micro-rotor watches... cheers

actually PP, UG were one...

 By: G99 : April 8th, 2010-10:45
actually PP, UG were one of the forerunners of micro rotors along with Buren, Hamilton and Breitling. UG are a strange company, they have a great reputation for their tri compax chrono's, but no one knows much about them. best Graham

Thank you..

Graham for this info.... If I am not mistaken UG is not operating now.... I have seen several vintage pieces and they seem interesting.... cheers

UG are definately operating...

 By: dannymc : April 8th, 2010-13:23
...under the leadership of Vince Lapaire, whom I believe is of a Cartier background. They still operate, but on a scale that is tiny compared to what they deserve. They actually released a new in-house microtor movement a couple of years back, UG 101 Cali...

Thanks...::))

 By: G99 : April 8th, 2010-09:30
i have a single crown supercompressor UN polerouter and i think the movements are great. well bought that man. although i would have done a bit of research before i bought it especially at the price they seem to sell for. best Graham

Looks good, but I question the hands.

 By: mkvc : April 9th, 2010-09:13
Not that the hands are a big deal. Great watch!

some observations...

By: Ancienne Le Brassus : April 9th, 2010-14:25
The watch does look nice, but here is why I think it's a Frankenwatch. The movement is too banged up, and the interior of the caseback is spanking new. The movement could have gotten this way if humidity came into the case, and thus the caseback would see...

What are your intentions with it?

By: Ancienne Le Brassus : April 9th, 2010-14:27
Are you planning on purchasing, selling it etc?? Thanks for sharing. S

i see where your coming from Sebastion, but............

 By: G99 : April 9th, 2010-14:52
the outside of the case and the obvious wear on the caseback are in keeping with the condition of the movement. the caseback should have the polerouter engraving on it, but that is worn away. mine is also pretty much worn away. i cant offer a good reason ...

Amen Graham!

"email alert" when somebody posts -Next time they check their post they'll see what they've done! THanks for your comments, and after reading what you wrote I should have written at the beginning that I'm not familiar with this specific UG model (I'm awar...

Fishing Trip?

 By: rolokr : April 21st, 2010-10:54
I bought the watch online. I wanted honest opinions. I value the opinion of others. I have over 40 vintage watches, and all are original!!! I just have questions about this one I just purchased. NO ALTERIOR MOTIVES!!!

Rolo,

 By: G99 : April 21st, 2010-11:09
if you had started off with a please and thankyou, the minimum you would do if you were talking to us face to face and then responded when we spent our valuable time giving you our unbiased opinions of this quite nice watch i would have been less inclined...
