I found myself less interested in this hobby because of:

Mar 26, 2023,11:03 AM

1-Insecurity across major European cities, especially London and Paris. Do not feel safe enjoying my watches.

2-Hype and financial aspect of it, which is always there. Heard directly from Patek staff that long term customers want new sport models that are not Aquanaut or Nautilus. Everyone is bored by celebrities and online magazines bringing attention to the financial aspect. But Patek is also doing a lot to keep this going, it is just business.

3-Bored by the fact that you cannot try any watches before buying them. End-up buying 2 classics from Rolex without trying the exact models, waited 1.5 and 3.5 years to get these 2, respectively; just to find myself not liking the watches…maybe modern Rolex watches are not for me.

In a way I hope this is just a phase, but my collecting journey is truly on pause.

About Rolex. Do you own and used to wear a lot of Rolex? I ask as I still don’t own any Rolex; although of course I find some pieces as staples to any collection

from my individual beliefs, lifestyle and experience is that despite having a lifelong obsession with horology (since I was 12!), I have also gone for extended periods of time without wearing any timepiece. There were simply circumstantial stretches of ti...

However understandable I haven’t (yet) gone through the same fase as you so well described. But I think I understand. Because being so involved with everything that has to do with watches for so long may get tiresome. I sense a decline in interest in watc...

Can‘t say if it‘s a phase, but my interest in watches also suffered heavily in the last year or so after collecting for more than 10 years.

The watch hype of the last few years somewhat made me loose interest, combined with the decision of brands always pushing out reincarnations of older watches. I did still buy watches of brands less known in my country, but I feel with you when you say you...

I lay in my bed, ready to start sleeping. But i did not sleep at moment, because i wanted to check a lovely picture. Look at her. (human) I could not get it out of my mind to have my watch off. So i put my watch on. Look at her (human), dream, make plans....

I experienced almost the same thing a few months ago, I even made a post about it. It coincided with a period of my life during which I had a lot on my mind and felt a little lost. It took me about a month to fully recover, maybe even a little longer, but...

I guess we all go through fases all life long. Be it relationships, work, interests and hobbies - of course watches too. To me the disinterest shows itself when I experience or read about the arrogance and bad service of so many watch stores and their emp...

Many years ago, here, your fellow famous collector and WPS mod “Hororgasm” also posted his “Horo-fatigue”. A similar experience to me is “rejection” or not able to get desire pieces so our reaction is to “retaliate”, eg my experience with Lange. What surp...

When I did, I took a break from the forums, watch sites, etc. Most days I’m still wearing a watch. After several months of not visiting the internet, the passion has always returned to me. What I’ve learned is it can be cyclical, and sometimes taking a br...

I have been collecting fountain pens for over 30 years — I am now at a point where I am very selective and think twice about an expensive pen purchase, e.g., north of $3K USD. That being said, I still follow the pen world online, go to pen shows, and get ...

References, credit check and pleasant disposition required.

I'm becoming very happy with what I have. And I can enjoy reading about new watches without wanting to own them.

You have seen so many watches over the years that there comes a time where little interests you. And as we walk through life, our priorities will change with age. For me personally, after more than three decades doing most of what you have been doing when...

I do have also from time to time a watch fatigue, maybe due to the load of information we consume on the topic. I then just take on my other hobbies, such as running, swimming and shooting.... once i have enough of those, i comeback with pleasure to watch...
