I agonized over this

And what about this choice between two very close watches ? A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition Pulsometer (30 pulsations) in white gold , ref. 414.026 with caliber L951.5 Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache in platinum , ref. 5...
Lange for me.
The movement makes the difference for me ...and I like German style watches !!
The movement is gorgeous indeed.
But the 1142 has a Lemania lineage and, personally, I like the design of the VC case much better. That said, the ALS is a stunner of course. Best, Emmanuel
If you don't respond to the lugs, then of course the ALS is the best choice!

I remember when I tried on the rose gold ALS in Berlin before purchasing my CdV: even though I was very impressed and drawn to the movement, I knew right away that I preferred the CdV. And the 1142 caliber might be less impressive, but it has a wonderful ...

Aha, yes: the best of both worlds!
But even if the ALS movement is greater, I still love the Lemania based 1142 (with its Maltese cross column wheel).
This one, my friend, is equally as easy of a choice!!!

And it's why I chose the CdV over the 1815 (I tried both in rose gold before making my definitive choice)!

CdV for me, because it is in platinum. But I once owned these, and the Lange was worn most often. ...
The Vacheron Constantin Cornes de Vache is such a classy and beautiful watch and for me is virtually unbeatable so no real question for me.
The position of the subdials on the ALS just really disturbs me in a way that I could never wear it on my wrist in comfort not forgetting that the VC CdV is an iconic watch for good reason. Marc

Love the platinum case, the lugs and the dial. Although I think the Lange movement is better finishing , the VC lemania is pretty, too

Well, I wouldn't say "boring", personally. I would rather say more contemporary, less vintage inspired. And of course, the movement is anything but boring...
ALS, hands-down, for me.
The movement, of course, but I actually prefer the ALS dial. (I also prefer the 1815 in rose gold.)

Both are very beautiful watches
But for me the balance of these dials is a little bit off. The subdials could, in my opinion, be better placed. For chronographs, honestly I prefer vintage ones.
I get it! The original CdV, ref. 6087, was smaller and therefore the balance of the dial was different.
