Also in 'Eastern Promises'...

... the JLC Master Control. I find the combination between the classy watch and the tattooed hand quite suggestive.

BTW, the movie is also surprisingly well-made, would highly recommend it.

Favourite movie watch appearance?

 By: dannymc : May 17th, 2009-16:04
Hi guys and girls, In anticipation of a dull monday, I thought I'd ask you all to share your favourite movie watch appearances, to keep us entertained! Bear in mind that this does not necessarily mean an appearance by your favourite watch in a movie (alth...

I'm a Bond freak...

 By: dxboon : May 17th, 2009-17:49
...so, naturally when thinking watch tie-ins my mind goes to the Rolex Submariners, and Omega Seamasters worn by the various movie Bonds. I think Omega's tie-in with James Bond is the best example of this sort of thing. Do you remember the scene on the tr...

Excellent, Daos

Even if I have to confess that I' more fan of James Bond's Rolex... Best, Nicolas

Fleming had an Explorer I himself.

They had it at the exhibition recently at the Imperial War Museum. Vernon

I wonder if he owned a Bentley...

 By: patrick_y : May 20th, 2009-11:14
Fleming originally intended Bond to have driven a Bentley car. Movie producers have put Bond in all sorts of cars; BMW, Lotus, Aston Martin, etc.

 By: MiniCooper : May 18th, 2009-16:26
I would say that the best movie watch was Bond's choice in Goldfinger just for the fact that he got Pussy Gallore (please excuse any misspelling of the name) at the end of the movie cheers

one of the best....

 By: MiniCooper : May 18th, 2009-16:30
have a post on the best Bond lines... I would leave it to you Daos to instigate it as you seem to almost know them all however goldfinger would be up there Cheers

Not only Rolex and Omegas..

 By: BDLJ : May 18th, 2009-20:19
Ian Fleming's Bond wore a Rolex and drove Bentleys. (Bond in a BMW...not right). At least in the recent films his watch hasn't been fitted with stupid lasers and ripsaws. Film Bonds have worn Rolexes, Omegas, various Seikos, Breitling chronos and can anyo...

but in my opinion, Roger Moore should not count as areal james Bond Cheers

Not a big fan.

 By: BDLJ : May 18th, 2009-22:06
..of Bond films, the books are passable, a product of their time. Must agree with you on the Moore bond films, but he is an amusing and dry person (just recently he was interviewed on radio concerning his autobiography).

I love the reverso in "Eastern Promises"

 By: aaronm : May 17th, 2009-20:09
It may be the only time I've ever seen a reverso move in a movie. It is being worn by a mid-level thug who gets beat-up, and part way through the watch pops open and kinda flaps on his wrist, exactly as I'd expect to see! A

The AP Royal Oak Offshore T3 watch in Terminator 3

 By: AnthonyTsai : May 17th, 2009-20:21
Anyone remember how Arnold finds the T3 watch? Did he flip down the sun visor in the truck and the watch fell out? I forgot. - AT This message has been edited by AnthonyTsai on 2009-05-17 21:51:24

Precisely.

 By: LeonDNumidia : May 17th, 2009-21:47
That’s exactly how. He brakes into a rusty old pick-up (that even has a shotgun mounted on the back glass) and when he flips the visor the watch falls right in his hand. Hilarious!! Since I saw this movie every time I enter my car I too flip my visor hopi...

Oh yeah!

 By: dannymc : May 18th, 2009-02:38
I'd forgotten about the T3 AP and especially about how he scanned it to check its accuracy!! Hilarious!!!!!!!!!! If the terminator can determine the accuracy of a watch in a matter of seconds just by looking at it then perhaps John Connor could use them i...

Another classic movie watch moment, Statham is sat in his car and an apparent alarm function on his panerai appears to beep until he presses in what is actually the chrono pusher to disable it!! Ha!

I agree, the Jaeger-LeCoultre is the perfect perfect watch. Other movies with Jaeger-LeCoultre watches: Batman Forever - Val Kilmer wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso with a TV screen that communicates with his Butler Alfred My Sassy Girl - Male Lead actor,...

Here is that NATO

Not at all..

 By: BDLJ : May 18th, 2009-17:25
..I'm not at all disturbed by the narrow strap on that "NATO" that's because it's not a NATO! In the era that this film was made I doubt that NATO straps came in anything other than 20mm in the military spec Admiralty Blue. My guess remains that it's a ch...

Just saw the thread on this in the Rolex forum

 By: mrsnak : May 19th, 2009-08:05
and I posted there: Have not heard anything about where the strap came from. I had always assumed it was for a smaller military issue watch, since given the reasonable attention to detail that took place for that film, I can't imagine that this was not mi...
