Breitling, October 2018 and expectations...
Is it "Go" time? Our colleague, Tim Mosso, on his Watchbox platform, has teased (since the most tepid Navitimer 8 collection fanfare in March 2018), that the B in the new Kerns regime will be releasing another set/series of watches in October 2018 which is much more desirable, a better taste of things to come from Kerns & Co.
IMHO, Breitling, which has enviable brand recognition, has not only failed to capture/capitilize on this brand recognition, but has actually lost the interest and imagination of us in the watch community over the past 10+ years. Which is a bit sad given its past interest if not glory.
So now that October is here, I am curious to see when and what Kerns shows us in the new Autumn of 2018. I was never a fan of what Kerns did with IWC. And after the Navitimer 8 affair, I feel that Kerns' window of opportunity is shutting. If this October presentation does not wow me, Breitling may soon be the Norma Desmond of the watchworld: "Alright, Mr DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up." (for all you movie buffs out there!)

As a U.S. citizen (and employee of a Breitling AD on the Govberg side), I'll be invoking my fifth amendment rights against self incrimination! This is Breitling's surprise to break, but yes, some kind of world "premiER" is near at hand ;-) Best, Tim
I'd say Breitling rather regained a lot of watch enthusiasts' attention they had previously lost during the last ten years...
If I recall Breitling some ten or twelve years ago, before the company made the decision of certifiying every model as a chronometer, this was really a sad period for watch lovers: The base versions of ETA 7750s and ETA 2824s were simply thrown into cases...
Well, at least my expectations are high❗️
What supposed to come up is the revival of the „Premier“ model which was a highly desirable model in the past...
My understanding...
... is that any future Breitling historical "re-editions" designated as such (rather than the looser historically "inspired") will omit dates if the original models featured no dates. Best, Tim
