There was supposed to be 40 examples made of the 80188 to be made. I estimate only 20 made. 🤝

Was never used in any other reference. The 80188 is 42.6 mm. Smaller than the usual 44 mm for the Evo3. But yes, 40 mm or even 38 mm would be great to see. Never say never … 🤝

Since there's a date windeo, does it have a perpetual calendar and if yes how do you set it?

The colours really seem to pop on this one, but why did they bother with a display caseback on a quartz movement? just seems a little redundant to me. But still a great looking watch that I hope you continue to enjoy in good health. Marc

This GP, the Grand Seiko 9F or the recent Citizen 0100 are great examples of high end quartz done right.

GP has the heritage being the first to leverage the technology for the 32,768 Hz frequency. Still used today. Imagine that 😮 GP patented and licensed the technology back to the japanese. 😅 🤝

The reason for the display caseback is to show the finishing. Same reason mechanical watches have display casebacks. 🤝 ...  

It’s fascinating to see the enthusiasm for the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Evo3 Quartz, especially the 80188 reference. I agree—a small reissue of this model would be a fantastic move.Your point about GP’s pioneering role in quartz technology is a great rem... 

So to clarify, the ref 80188 is the ONLY quartz laureato Evo3 and it was only made a a novelty. Perhaps the plan under the stewardship of Gino and Stephano Macaluso was to eventually make some protection pieces. Also, a few short month later, Gino would p...  

Why make it with a mechanical calibre? There are already many Evo3’s with mechanical calibres. 🤔 🤝

The variety is exactly that this is quartz and not mechanical. 😄
