Dear enthusiasts,
it is with pleasure to have a closer look at what i found one of the most beautiful additions by GP for this year - the grey dials for GP´s wildly popular Vintage1966.
The ref. 49525 "Vintage1966" was one of the most successfull introductions in 2006, which certainly goes back to the timeless, classic appearance. It is not just a "retro"-look, it is a modern interpretation of classic design elements that make for a classy appearance; a Vintage1966 is just never out of place.
Part of the success might be a limited choice of dial variants and case materials. Available only in Pink Gold and White Gold with silver-white dials allows for a quick decision, which is globally appreciated - the Vintage1966 meanwhile did proof to be cherished in any market!
Therefore i´m pretty happy to see GP resisted possible temptations to widen this model range by too many more variants; a classic look really doesn´t need more than a few choices.
So maybe a surprise (for GP fans who followed our earlier coverage maybe a little less), in 2007 exactly two new dials are added.
The gently curved, opaline dials in charcoal or ruthenium grey colour make for a very different look, without touching on the key elements that make the Vintage1966 so special:
White Gold, Reference 49525-53-631-BK6A
Pink Gold, Reference 49525-52-232-BKCA
Both new variants share the paper specs of their white dial cousins:
- diameter: 38mm
- height: 8.50mm
- sapphire crystal, domed (slightly curved), anti-reflective coating
- see-through back
- GP manufacture-made movement caliber GP03300, 11 1/2 lines, 27 jewels
- alligator straps with classic pin buckle
Unlike the white dial versions, there is currently no variant with diamond-set bezel for these two additions; personally i really appreciate GP keeping this model really down to it´s essence!
Here´s an overview of all ref. 49525 variants:
To me, the Vintage1966 is a true GP classic. A beautiful and handsome watch, modern but timeless!
