OC Issues can easily be fixed in a service
Nov 02, 2019,17:57 PM
I have had an early brass OC with a date issue in the past with it skipping days/months etc, and this was easily fixed during a service like your RDM. Since the service it's had no further issues, and if an error had again occurred it would have been fixed without charge following the service I believe (within a certain time period obviously). I'd personally have no hesitation in buying an OC with skipping dates etc IF the inconvenience and service cost was factored into the price.
The only model that I hear with more frequent issues is the Zodiaque, but I've never owned one of these so can't speak from first hand experience.

Question

I recently met a fellow collector who offered to trade his Octo Calendrier for my Chronometre Bleu. I love my CB and have owned it from new. Originally planning to keep it forever. Question to the FPJ affocionados here: what’s the view on the Octo Calendr...

The Calendrier is certainly one of the collectible in the Journe terminology. It was one of the founding pieces that helped FP in his claim to fame. Especially if you are talking about one of the early gold dials. It has the Octa movement which is a good ...

Do sleep on it. It is definitely worth giving some thought because it’s not a bad idea. However, don’t forget weigh in your first instinct - that is often the right one.
I'd say "go with your gut and keep the CB," but...

... otherwise I'd probably make the trade. It all comes down to personal aesthetic preference for me. I've thought about getting a CB quite often but didn't pull the trigger because I didn't think I'd wear it. I have other time-only watches that I like mo...

I too have a CB, sourced before they went bananas on the secondary market - would I do the trade myself? Yes, absolutely. I very much enjoy the Octo Calendrier layout, and concur with Christian that it holds a very special place in the Journe historical t...

I have attempted to respond to this post several times only to delete or revise my advice / answer. What that tells me is that I’m not sure! I don’t know what is the right answer. Certainly you are getting a more complicated watch. Certainly you are getti...
Great input from an actual owner

I agree - with the right dial, I would probably do it as well. What is your impressions with the issues of the Calendrier. Have they been ironed out. I have a RDM that had issues with the date as it was one of the first pieces. This was fixed automaticall...

Thank you for confirming it. It this point they are so rare in the market so seeing a nice one, mechanical issues should not be the major concern.
