Christian you make a great point regarding the design, originality and the fact that it's really not trying to be something else.

 

It was all these things 5 years ago too, it just seems it (and or Journe) was just not on the broader radar.
Perhaps a confluence of events; a great watch to begin with, an honest price (retail), the rise of instagram, an improvement in how Independents market themselves (aided by instagram In a way that no forum could ever do) and the general bull market for watches (and everything else).
It does seem to me also that more people are willing to pay more for watches today than 5 years ago. And it's not just those who may be in a better position after 5 additional years of working/earning. Younger and less affluent collectors today are just spending more.
