i think some very good points have been made so far. Here are my thoughts:
I’m thinking people are opening their eyes to the fact, that you get a top movement in interesting materials and demanding techniques at a good price relatively compared to what the market is currently offering.
The design feels “genuine”. The market is thirsting for something original. By this, I mean that you get a watch with a strong character but still quite wearable. A lot of the watches coming out at the moment, I find are either a bit bland, or are added “artificial character” by simulating vintage style. In terms of aesthetics, this is obviously a modern watch but it is also elegant. A lot of the other “modern” offerings and more edgy designs, have a cool factor by being sporty, utilizing modern materials ect, but I don’t view them as “elegant”. I hope this made sense, but what I’m trying to say is it strikes an aesthetic balance that hits a sweet spot.
Supply matters. In terms of a Journe watch, it is not rare. But numbers are still so relatively low that even though production will continue for some years, it remains an unusual watch.
Yes, blue is trendy. But this watch came before the blue trend. The blue is so spectacular that it feels way beyond "just another blue dial".
