UR-230 Polaris release
This is a very cool new variant from Urwerk. It has a Stormtrooper quality to it that I like very much. More interesting is the ceramic/fiberglass composite from which it is constructed.
From Monochrome:
“The new Urwerk UR-230 Polaris case is made from an advanced ceramic-based composite, showcasing an intricate layered construction. Its polymer base is interwoven with sheets of ceramic and lightweight silver-toned fibreglass plies, enhancing structural strength.”
I’m not aware of any such ceramic releases in the past, so it’s exciting to see where they go with their materials in the future. Plus, it appears this ceramic composite may be stronger than the usual ceramic pieces we love but can be worried about its sensitivity. Unfortunately, such material advancements come with a price premium. C’est la vie.

I see what you’re saying, but because the white ceramic portion is balanced nicely by the extent of the black components, I didn’t consider it quite as trendy as an AP white ceramic piece, or even an RM.
Perhaps this Urwerk can even be viewed as a modernized ‘panda’ of sorts.😊 Either way, I agree that it’s not an everyday piece when compared to Jay’s black UR-105.

Ceramic in anything other than black tends to look a little plastic-y in-person IMO
Can be cool sometimes, but I think a polished black ceramic akin to what AP/Hublot/Zenith now do would be better.
That’s a good and important (for me) point with regard to many ceramic pieces.

Everytime I see a UR-230…
I remember there is a hole in my collection. I wouldn’t go for this white ceramic version, but still… The world needs more crazyness from UR!
