Quartet contemplations
I know some collectors at times find a particular reference they fall for particularly. In the world of PP quite common is 5970, 5070, 5110, 5130, 5131.
For me it would have to be 5960. Such a versatile reference and happens to wear incredibly well. If dreams were to come true and a quartet was a possibility this is clearly where I would go. Below my choices, top two I already have. Is it worth going for bottom two? There are so many fish in the sea so very torn. The idea of the quartet is intriguing, but sacrifices many as they are no cheap pieces... opinions? What would be your quartet or what is if you are already there?

should have most wrist time IMHO. WG and RG could be nice to have and to look at by not much more on my wrist. Except if I strictly owned only these 4 watches ;-(( Very nice 5960's what so ever. Patrickh

I prefer to wait Basel 2017
with expected 5131P, 5170P and maybe new perpetual calibres as the current ones had already 20 years old (expiry rights) ????? Time will speak to our heart ;-)) or not.

there is also 59060 P black dial which is the rarest configuration... Did you eliminate it on purpose ? As for me I could easily consider SS and this 5960 P only, don't you think? Well in whatever configuration, they are all gorgeous... It's good to have ...

Should be the Moscow - lower left quadrant. LE 100 pieces I believe. Although I love the ref, I think they have one big problem - the poor AR coating. Anybody else noticed this?? Come to think of it, the steel one was not as bad... ...

5110 is more realistic, in terms of funds. But not less charming.
Now, I could also consider another quartet which is very dear to my heart: 5110P / 5070G / 5100 G / 5960A... Just to diversify the pleasures... Best, Nicolas

I had for quite some time the mission to have five PP each in different metal and collection but have up as too many other temptations came along. I did make it at one stage however but some have since had to depart to make room for other temptations ((
This is a very familiar feeling, my friend. I had 5, I let two go ( 5712 and 5130 ) and one was stolen to me ( 5196P ).
I had the ambition to hunt a 5100G and a 5960... Still alive, but quite challenging... Best, Nicolas

Every day 5960A is the right choice. But when dressing to business suit and placing a tie to the neck, 5960P is the right choice. Best, Kari
My P gets more wear than any other piece I own. So versatile with the anthracite dial!
The pair arguably is a perfect one. If the A was wearable in water the two would be the only one would need
Understandable urge
As another 5960 enthusiast, I understand the urge entirely, but encourage you to consider that there is nothing magical about quartet vs. trio vs. quintet vs. solo. I have the habit of buying two or three additional versions of whatever references I like ...

I love the 5960.
And only own the original 5960p. I think they are incredible watches technically and aesthetically. I think they are generally massively undervalued. Love the Chrono fly back feature and most importantly for me my eyes love it and it has a great wrist pre...
Yes I agree in that they are massively under appreciated. Perhaps production ran a bit high
and usually that makes a reference less interesting to many collectors. However this instance I struggle to dislike this no matter what. I tend to think it offers tremendous value for anyone looking to add an amazing piece to their collection!

Yes most likely not something I am going to pursue for now. But thought is quite appealing now that I have succumbed to the idea of having two of the same ref., perhaps that is enough of a testament to the appreciation I feel towards this particular ref.!...

but you would notice the same as I did: the steel version is taking 95% of the 5960 wrist time. And there are so many nice Patek around... Best, Kari

Both the 5070 and 5960 are equal in quality to 5370 they are just different but both exceptional as references in their own rights with their own unique qualities. The simple perfect scenario is quality and quality in the ideal world. You have beautiful q...

5960 is a nice watch
but for a chrono I prefer a manual wind and not an automatic ... So it will not be my first choice
After seeing this post for some days.
All i can say is they are all nice chronographs. But 2 stand out for me the blue face white gold and the stainless steel. So this 2 are the ones to get on this reference. My opinion. But if you want all then by all means. Its a winning proposition. Cheers...
The WG version indeed looks quite amazing, a bit hard to find unfortunately.
