I closed out the year with 2 purchases.
First off was an hand wound Aviator Alarm Watch manufactured by Volmax. No idea what its called nor what the movement is. This watch has a mechanical alarm function which is set by the right upper crown. The alarm hand is on a central disc. The alarm is rather loud, capable of waking me up despite ringing only for 10-15 seconds when fully wound. I have to say that the alarm is rather accurate, ringing at almost the preset time. The watch has an inner track which has conveniently broken down the hours so as to assist in accurately setting the alarm. Time is set by the right lower crown as is the winding. There is an additional crown on the left which is for the internal rotating bezel.

My other purchase for Dec 09 was a Seiko Chronograph Bullhead 6138-0040 bought from the very popular online auction site. I bought it based solely on the pictures posted by the seller so I did not have any clue as to its originality nor its authenticity. I guess I just had to trust the seller. It was also my first auction bid win on that site.
The watch came with a very "kayu" bracelet ("kayu" is a colloquial term for LAME) which was promptly despatched and replaced with a Hirsch Rally strap.
The watch keeps good time and the chrono function works well despite it's age (it's only one year younger than me). I really like the vertically displayed day date. My only gripe is that there is no more lume on the indexes.
For me it was an excellent buy since I cannot afford to buy a modern Seiko automatic chrono watch.
