Some of you might remember seeing the skeleton wristwatch I posted some time back, here- ahci.watchprosite.com Well, I have made another one. This one is based on the Swiss ETA-6498. What do you think? Kind regards Aditya...
over all work is more neat than the first one love the current hands more than the previous one, a blued screws would add a charm to the watch.... Keep up the good work . Faisal
I think you've made a beautiful watch! I somehow prefer the dual tone on the first one though, but like the newer movement and hands. Looking forward to see more!
while looking to it i was saying hummm... something should be added to it for additional charm beside the blue screws.... and yes the two tone is the answer... two tone within the movement it self would be seductive to see different finishing on the insid...
...when you write it, gavla, it is necessary first to know why you would hold such a strong view, and perhaps what you would find 'not ugly'. What are your particular tastes? Cheers, pplater.
..if is not possible give critics in here, maybe is better chance this site nocriticspurists....Is the only comments what you can put here is WOW WOW...? In my eye, that movement is ugly! ( like UN machine made maxi-skelet ) Thanks, gavla from Jura
Well, as you know, gavla... ..."WOW WOW" is perfectly acceptable if that is how you choose to express your appreciation for a particular watch; perhaps a Blancpain (http://Home.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-17/pi-5026473/ti-758563/s--3/) or perhaps a...
A much cleaner design and the level of workman ship seems to have improved. All the parts seem to be much better finished, polished. The first watch seemed a little to be an assemblage of used parts, whereas this watch seems like new. A very nice result e...
The 'assemblage' nature of the first watch is due in some part to the patchy rhodium plating. In fact it has taken me the better part of two years to identify a good local source for gold plating (he does not do rhodium). Also, I have not the courage to s...
I am generally not that into skeletion watches but this one came out very well ... like the steampunk appeal of the gold movement juxtaposed with the blued screws. Keep it up! Best Andreas
it looks good, I think. I think... and improvement from the first one, both on the shape of the blued hands and dots. Also the more homogenious gold plating is an improvement. not bad at all! I think its impressive that you have taught your self to make w...
I agree will most of the above examples, two-tone would be nice as well as the blued screws. I have no skill in building watches, but since this site is about opinions I'll give what I have. Personally, I would like to see a more pleasing aesthetic with r...
Perhaps a bit less skeletonization would work better. But substantially better finishing on this one. Did you make the case too? I like what I can see. Perhaps you can post a few pics of the case? J.
I do intend to reduce the skeletonization on the next one so that the bevels/ anglage can be larger. I buy the cases. What I like about this case is that it is just a shade over 41mm and so the movement really fills it up. There is no movement ring requir...
Hello aditya, I have considered the pictures of your skeleton watch and found the job well done and deserving a word. I understand from the post that you have learnt watchmaking on your own and I guess you use the technics, material and tools that are ava...
That is wonderful support for one of our enthusiasts. Hopefully aditya will be able to take up your invitation so that we might see a 'back to the future' piece from India one day! Kudos to you both. Cheers, pplater.
This was a most enlightening post, and very constructive not just for the original poster, but for all the watch lovers here on the site. Thank you so much for taking the time to offer us your learned perspective. Your post made my day. Cheers, Daos
At first I thought this is an elaborate prank. "He has only made 11 posts, is it really him?" I said to myself On a serious note, Mr. Halter, I would have been happy enough if all you had said was that it is ugly. The fact that you have taken the trouble ...
"1/ Your design is neat and classical, perhaps a little too much academic. However, nothing surprising as it is your first jobs" Your comment presupposes dat dis isn't da exact æsthetic dat Aditya is desirous of. Considering A.S.'s complete body of w...
To echo others' sentiments, thank you Vianney for responding so helpfully and graciously! In tribute, as it were, I just put my Classic out to be tomorrow's watch!
Once Vianney has opined, I don't believe that anyone will care too much what Gary thinks But here goes anyway I like it. As context, I am a sucker for both skeletons and asymmetric dials, so this one is a natural for me. I also like the way that one of th...
Hi Aditya , You fortunate to have received such widespread encouragement to your new watch, the work is tidy and regular but as Vianney says,it has an academic look which will evolve to your personal style as you produce more watches. As you have troubles...
First, encouragement from one of the greatest watchmakers of all time, and now an offer to visit from one of our very few greatest clockmakers! I hope that you know who David Walter is, because it is a remarkable thing that he has responded to you. In my ...
Where else, really, would you have ever seen two rock stars (sorry David - two folk heroes???) of the craft so freely offering up their time to a neophyte? Grab these offers with both hands, Aditya! Cheers, pplater.
I am aware of who Mr. Walter is. My wife complains that when I am not fooling around with watches I can be found surfing the internet for information on horology Kind regards Aditya
Hi Aditya, Its really fantastic to see your work, specially coming from India, and it deserves all the positive responses you are receiving, including that from David Walter, who's clock work I feel is unrivaled today. I've been on and off the Purists for...
I like the way it looks, it looks like a "toy" to me. It reminds me, in some way, the finishing A.Silberstein gave to the Progress tourbillon movements for his watches. Nice watch. Thanks. Vte
