Horological Meandering

An afternoon at the AD

Had a hectic week and decided to take it slow on a Friday afternoon ahead of a long weekend at the AD. Tried on (for the n-th time) two watches that look very similar IMO, but yet are different enough from just about every aspect. Some pictures to follow, not the greatest pictures taken with a phone, but enough to draw some comparisons.

First up - Classic Fusion in titanium. This size (42mm) fits my wrist just right. Light and the rubber strap is very soft and comfortable. Something I certainly could see myself with on a daily basis for sure just due to the wearability of it and it not being too flashy. Very sporty, which suits my daily casual self.

I like the buckle a lot

Not a huge fan of the movement though. While I'm not one who cares too much of whether it's an ETA derivative or in-house, as long as it's well built, accurate and easy to service (and find watchmakers who can service it easily), but having this totally undecorated is appalling, to me at least. A rotor change and the H logo is not "finishing" at this price point. It looked too similar to my mechanical Swatch!

Next up - something I've been considering for well over a year....15450

Definitely oozing class and says a different story than the Hublot - also draws more attention because of the way light plays off that dial. The weight is significant, contributed by the steel bracelet, but then again, if I did get this one, it would be with the steel bracelet because I dislike non-standard lugs for straps although straps are my preference over bracelets. The build is as close to perfect as one can get IMO. Can't find anything wrong about it, from size, finishing and wear comfort.

Hugs the wrist just as well as the Hublot does, though the Hublot is quite a bit more comfortable to wear. Maybe the weight has something to do with it, or the difference between the steel and the soft rubber.

Beautifully crafted

Side by side. Just very similar, but going by just design and dial, I prefer the Hublot. Would be better if there was some lume though.

Similar yet as far apart as can be

Final comparison of size to my PI. The PI also wears more comfortable than the AP though. AP looks a lot smaller, but lug to lug it's almost exactly the same size.

Was a good afternoon by my standards, and a great way to de-stress. Tempted but not convinced...not yet at least!

HAGWE all!

Richard
