TimeOut

10 days in Paris... October, 2015

I've always believed that the best part of travel is the people you get to meet along the way. This was true in my 20's and 30's and especially true now that I'm in my 40's. Therefore I would like to begin this little pictorial with the meeting of non other than Nicolas, a.k.a. Amanico!

A lot of us already know him through his 130K+ posts... a stalwart of this community, an astute collector, a lover of vintage watches, and one who is severely allergic to date windows! wink But having met him in person now I can vouch that his encyclopedic knowledge of watches is easily surpassed by his kindness and generosity of spirit. It was a pleasure to meet him, and his lovely wife, and I'm happy to know him now as a friend also.

A quick note on the pictures. They were all handheld so my apologies in advance if they are not tack sharp... especially the ones taken by my wife wink

Here we are at our first meeting. I'm trying on his Milgauss and he my Speedmaster.

Here's Nicolas letting me know what he really thinks about the "modern" Speedmaster.

Getting an early start... sunrise on rue des Écoles.

Before the tourists attack! An obligatory, yet funky, shot of Notre-Dame de Paris.

My wife's happy place... Berthillon on Île Saint-Louis.

My favorites were pistachio and the salted butter caramel. My wife, however, insists that she needs to go back and try every single flavor before she can make such a statement!

Time for some "culture" wink

The clock in the Musée d'Orsay.

A rare moment of fewer than a 1,000 cars!

A magazine cut out of an old French magazine on the ceiling of "L'Ange 20" restaurant in Marais. The gentleman having his ski boots tightened is the former Shah of Iran! The restaurant, btw, was excellent.

Souvenir shopping for father-in-law.

Guess where we're headed...

Truth be told I felt uneasy taking pictures in such a place... it felt inappropriate! But I couldn't resist this one. Something about seeing the molars...

Jardin du Luxembourg.

Tai Chi in the park.

Fall leaves...

Cannot NOT go to the Opera!

Really could have used a tripod!

Again, this picture would have been infinitely more beautiful with a tripod. Notice the lack of tourists!

We had great seats, don't you think?

Wifey insisted on this picture.

Heaven! Château de Versailles.

I don't do post processing. The colors were unreal! Paris/France is not to be missed in the Fall.

Château de Versailles continued...

Yours truly... wifey finally took a decent shot wink

My reason for getting out of bed... and for staying in wink

Nicolas recommended this place, the Arènes de Lutèce. You walk through a tiny door in the heart of Paris and you see this! Unreal!!!

I never say goodbye to Paris! it's always see you later...

Thanks for looking smile

Cheers,

Kamy
