Comments from Guy Bove regarding hand design:

I passed on the communities questions regarding the hand design to Guy Bove and here is his reply:

“Our L.U.C hands are nearly always designed to go with the case colour – here they are rhodium-plated to match the polished steel bezel and, as in all 1963 pieces, they are not Super-LumiNova-filled – the main goal with this collection is an elegant, precise, well-finished statement of accuracy and heritage. To provide a strong contrast with the black dial, the numerals on the dial are plain white (an inversion of our black on white dials in the Heritage range of our L.U.C collection).

As for legibility, the hands – like all 1963 pieces – use our unique "dauphine-fusée" design (dauphine/rocket combination!), which provides a mix of beveled and conical surfaces which will reflect any light around, creating a strong contrast against the black dial.

Having the initial production piece in front of me, I have just tried moving it through all degrees of rotation including facing my black floor and was able to read the time without thinking about it. Hopefully our PuristS friends will agree when they see it for themselves!”
