That’s definitely the next step. Leaning towards the Solo in gold, but we’ll see. It’s very helpful to have everyone’s thoughts ahead of time. Thanks very much!

Cartier Tank Solo- Gold or steel?

 By: cgrossman : November 7th, 2020-09:07
Greetings, I have “lurked” here for a long time with virtually no posts. I have so much respect for the people and content in this website. With that in mind, I am considering purchasing a Tank Solo Large. I would very much appreciate hearing people’s per...

Welcome!

Also somewhat new to this forum but a big Cartier fan. I don't own a Tank myself, but always felt that that particular model belonged in gold. Vice versa, the quintessential steel rectangular watch for me has always been the Reverso. Since you already hav...

Thank you!

That a tank should be in gold is a feeling I had too, but wasn’t sure if it was warranted. The observation with regard to the Reverso being the quintessential steel rectangular watch is a good one. Thank you again.

Personally I think after owning a Tank that the question should actually be owning a Tank with a guilloche dial.....

over owing one without it. I think a guilloche dial is far more attractive and more Cartier-esque than the more plain solo. This is my stainless version (although it looks a bit gold from the reflection) but I would much prefer a different model Tank with...

Agreed...

Thank you. I’ve wondered the same thing. I’ve wondered about at Tank LC, but I should probably sell something else if I’m making that move. It seems to me (and a lot of people here know much more than I) is that the non guilloche seems at least as histori...

Really I wouldn't be all that concerned with the historical aspect as I would with the actual beauty of the watch.

And if a person has the financial resources to buy a gold Solo or a gold LC, I'd definitely take the LC. I'd obviously visit Cartier with those things in mind and try them on. Good luck.

Right you are

I didn’t realize that it had been around for that long. I was also trying to imagine how the solo fits into the entire history of the tank, as well as precedents for a steel case. Cartier’s unique talent seems to be able to work with an elastic content wi...

Almost bought a gold tank solo large

But I go a reverso instead. Though you still can’t go wrong with a gold tank (even if quartz). It’s still at the back of my mind. ...

Thanks!

That doesn’t look like your Reverso! 😂 Is that a Solo? It looks beautiful. I have been looking at used steel Reversos...still leaning toward the tank. May go to AD next week. Cheers, Charlie

I can’t post the reverso in the cartier forum.

The JLC I settled on is off the frame. 😅
