It was a tough choice...
Since I already had the white dial Aquatimer, I wanted to pick up another black dial to replace the Milgauss I had sold earlier. Leading up to the final purchase, I did go back and forth between the black and white dials, but I stuck with my original choice. I even went so far as to have my AD sent me pictures of the white dial model they had in stock to compare them, they really went out of their way to make sure I got the watch I wanted. The day after I had the watch shipped to me, we flew to Philadelphia to visit Govberg and I got to compare them side by side and I'm glad I went with the black. My wife actually really liked the white dial though and she mentioned getting one for herself.
New Calibre!!
It took a few months to decide what I wanted, but it was well worth it. A couple of weeks ago this beauty came in the mail from my favorite AD, a big thank you to George Mayer and Danny Govberg from Govberg Jewelers in Philadelphia, and I can't be happier...

When I had started deciding on which watch I was going to buy, I really liked the previous black dial Calibre with the different style XII on the dial. I was close to buying the older style and having the bracelet put on it, but I thought that the XII wou...
I prefer the new style dial too
It works better with the black dial, more sporty, especially with the bracelet. The black XII in the old dial looks a bit out of place. - SJX
Old style vs. new style dial
I think the old style works well with the strap, but the new style works better with the bracelet. Govberg has the old style in their case, but I think the XII would be sort of washed out on the bracelet. I've thought about picking up the strap and deploy...
The deployant is complicated to adjust
And the right length strap is key, because the strap loops back onto itself. But if you get the right adjustment it wears very well. See my review: cartier.watchprosite.com - SJX

The black dial one has maybe a more "sportive touch" than the white dial one... it is perfect on your wrist btw... Fx

Sporty vs sports
Majority of watch buyers are content with a sporty luxury watch, rather than a real sports watch, and the Calibre is designed to appeal to the big portion of the market. - SJX

Thanks SJX, I understand what you say exactly. What a pity though, for its the marketing aspect that has played a role in defining the product in the end, where I would much rather my watch were defined by a more 'puritan' desire to just make a good no co...
It's not actually about marketing or cost but practicality for most wearers
But practicality. Most average watch buyers want something simple and easy to use, and a friction fit crown is easier to use - no need to screw down and less chance of crossed/stripped threads. The cost of adding a screw down crown is minimal, there are p...
