That's the sportiest combo of the Calibre de Cartier. Good choice.

of the bracelet model but not the specific watch of course.

It works better with the black dial, more sporty, especially with the bracelet. The black XII in the old dial looks a bit out of place.

I think the old style works well with the strap, but the new style works better with the bracelet. Govberg has the old style in their case, but I think the XII would be sort of washed out on the bracelet.
I've thought about picking up the strap and deployant as well, but not sure I'll get the use out of it to justify the cost. What is everyone's overall experiences with the Cartier straps and deployant?
And the right length strap is key, because the strap loops back onto itself. But if you get the right adjustment it wears very well.

Majority of watch buyers are content with a sporty luxury watch, rather than a real sports watch, and the Calibre is designed to appeal to the big portion of the market.

But practicality. Most average watch buyers want something simple and easy to use, and a friction fit crown is easier to use - no need to screw down and less chance of crossed/stripped threads.
The cost of adding a screw down crown is minimal, there are plenty of low price watches with that, but in this case it's to cater to the majority of the market, which a watch like Calibre was designed to do.
