But practicality. Most average watch buyers want something simple and easy to use, and a friction fit crown is easier to use - no need to screw down and less chance of crossed/stripped threads.
The cost of adding a screw down crown is minimal, there are plenty of low price watches with that, but in this case it's to cater to the majority of the market, which a watch like Calibre was designed to do.

New Calibre!!
It took a few months to decide what I wanted, but it was well worth it. A couple of weeks ago this beauty came in the mail from my favorite AD, a big thank you to George Mayer and Danny Govberg from Govberg Jewelers in Philadelphia, and I can't be happier...

I prefer the new style dial too
It works better with the black dial, more sporty, especially with the bracelet. The black XII in the old dial looks a bit out of place. - SJX

I think the old style works well with the strap, but the new style works better with the bracelet. Govberg has the old style in their case, but I think the XII would be sort of washed out on the bracelet. I've thought about picking up the strap and deploy...
The deployant is complicated to adjust
