Le Quai de l’Horloge volume 5

Aug 22, 2022,17:10 PM

For those of you who read Breguet’s promotional magazine Le Quai de l’Horloge, you might know that volume 5 has been mysteriously missing for awhile. I’m told that it contained an announcement for the Breguet 7087, which was shown at Baselworld, but never made it to production, so the volume was scrapped.

In any case, I just saw that a revised version of the volume is now available via Breguet’s Magazine Request page. You can get it and any other issue either as a PDF or have a print version sent to you.

Just thought I’d share.

The 7087 was the Tradition Minute Repeater? It was innovatively designed using magnets and would be an amazing step forward. A pity they've stepped back from it.

I wasn’t aware of it before

But reading about it, it really is a pity it wasn’t produced other than some prototypes. Seems really interesting.

Thanks for the hint!

Magnets?

I wonder if their ambition with magnets didn’t play out as well as they would’ve liked. We’ve only seen one production watch with significant magnetic components (7727). Granted, it’s been 7 years, which is probably not long enough to design multiple move...

The 7727 to my knowledge works without issues.

Beautiful on the front, and ingenious from chronometric point of view. I would have probably bought it if the finishing on the back was not so sloppy. I knew someone who pre ordered the 7087 ... So I guess there was pre allocation to dealers and the cance...

I didn’t mean to suggest otherwise

I don’t have any experience with the 7727 and haven’t heard about its reliability one way or another. I just find it curious that they did all this innovative work with magnets and we haven’t really heard anything in 7 years. My hope is we do see/hear mor...

I agree - they went into a very interesting direction with the magnets, it will be a pity if it they decided to end such research.

As for the sales - just an observation that ADs were offering massive discounts off retail for both ....
