The black ceramic has to be it.

It doesn't look weird in person; it looks excellent. I bought mine recently and have been over the moon. I've had my eye on it for a long while though and when I made it a reality, suffice it to say, I wasn't disappointed. The Ti variant was a close second, but ultimately they grey felt too neutral and I didn't love the look of silver metal constituting the Bathyscaphe case. The black feels serious and technical which is what I wanted and that which suits my lifestyle. There isn't a wrong answer, strictly speaking, but you'll have to adjust that calendar model a lot if you go for it since it isn't an annual. I went for the simplest: time and date. The black ceramic look was the cherry on top...and the watch has what I'd call a much more liquid look to it than the Ti, which is also something I quite like about it. The black dial has a lot of character; it can be smoke coloured in some light and pitch black in other. It also is quite low-key, so people don't really notice it or care to notice. Plus, you can still get it with the excellent NATO strap with ceramic keepers.

My reasons for ceramic:
  1. Under the radar.
  2. Looks like the tool for the job, but it's still luxurious.
  3. Ceramic is a cool material; when coloured black it scans less large on-wrist.
  4. That NATO...
My reasons for Ti:
  1. Strong and not prone to chip.
  2. Very neat dial.
  3. Alternative look to the black, blue, and steel Bathyscaphes.

Closing in on a Bathyscape and have three options. The grey dial titanium. One with calendar/moonphase complications. Black case and dial. I see all three available second hand for about the same. What would you get and why? The ceramic all black looks co...

You’re right. I do love how mean it looks too in black! Plus ceramic is scratch proof more or less.

That's just about it; glad you see it too :)

The ceramic is pretty good. My strap changes have caused small scratches on the lug undersides, but honestly, it looks way better than on steel. I would endorse ceramic's toughness with scratches for sure. Interestingly, the ceramic variant still feels so...

Really love this all black version! Dark Vader!

Maybe that should be the nickname, just like the Pepsi GMT Master II. I'd roll with Darth Vader for sure.

Compelling description and photos!

I love this watch and I bought it 2nd hand in mint condition from a dealer that allows returns. And I returned it! Why? Too big on my 7 1/4” wrist. The watch is VERY tall (thick) and that didn’t jive with the minimalist design at all. At 42+ mm in diamete...

Hmmm

This is definitely one of the reasons I'm switching out my current "low stress" watch. It's ~14.9mm thick. It looks like the TI 38mm is only 10.77mm thick though?

Definitely choose the time/date model.

One the best aspects of the Bathye (for me) is the depth of void the dial puts off with the contrast of how reflective the indices are. It’s spectacular. As for case material, I’m partial to titanium over ceramic typically. Although I don’t care for the n...

… the complete calendar builds on the 1150 caliber, which looks very small in the 43mm case. The standard model features caliber 1315 which a better fit and offers a superior performance. The choice between titanium and black ceramic is really down to you...

Not to muddy the waters but…

If it were me, I would probably take a hard look at the 50 fathoms MilSpec Limited. They are still floating around from time to time. The Bathyscaphe Ceramic blue is also quite stunning
