Honestly, it's because they're stupid
the closest they've come to this amazing model is the 100 piece limited edition Blancpain did with Hodinkee about 5 years ago (which is unobtainable on the secondary market). There are literally millions (well, maybe thousands) of Bathyscape for sale in boutiques and online that aren't as desirable, but as soon as something comes along that people really want Blancpain/Swatch Group says "no, this is too good and should not be available to ordinary people"

I don’t understand why — if Blancpain has cracked the code for the perfect watch — they don’t put it in production. Rolex has the submariner. Omega has the Speedmaster. I would buy this in a minute.
