By far the No Rad…

… based on the late 1960s RPGA1, which also had a date 😉
Let me explain why this is such a clear call for me. The 40mm FF editions have never been meant to be close to their inspirations, but a blend of heritage elements with a modern FF. The No Rad embodies this concept beautifully.
Hodinkee tried hard to get this modern FF closer to what makes the vintage FF so outstanding. But it could not work, since the base is not designed to support that approach. As a result the watch has a sort of „ tried too hard“ air to it.
Then there are the dials: comparing both watches in reality (and under the loupe) to each other shows me a significant difference in execution of the dial. In my personal opinion the No Rad dial (or the Barakuda since they join the same base dial color and texture) is more refined than the MIL-SPEC for Hodinkee one. This starts with the texture and ends with the way the lume is applied.
But that’s of course just my personal take on these two.
