Fifty Fathoms -- Black or Blue; Steel or Titanium
By: trm949 : October 20th, 2021-02:51
I am planning to add a Fifty Fathoms to my collection (the 45mm) and am interested in any thoughts on whether to go with the black or blue dial, and whether to go with the steel case/bracelet or titanium. (I plan to get it on a bracelet and swap in a sail...
You’re right, no bad options…

My first choice of the 45s is the limited edition Nageurs de Combat with its brushed case and printed dial. Of the current offerings I would choose the Ti brushed with blue dial. For reference I had the polished steel with black on the wonderful bracelet ...
Thanks!

So many great options.
Thanks for the insights!

Good points and you're right about the apparent differences in the bezels -- had not noticed that before. As for checking them out in a boutique, mine does not have any with bracelets -- said they may get some more in a month or two. I did try both the st...

I never had noticed this. Maybe indeed some different batches/execution or supplier. All the best!
This would be my suggestion, too...

but my priorities appear to be different from yours! I'd go black dial (because I like the dark classic look) and titanium case (because big divers on bracelets in steel are too heavy for comfort for me and titanium fixes that).
Can’t go wrong with either choice…

The first photo is from a YouTube video by WatchBox. The other two are from the Blancpain blog. Apologies.
Brushed vs polished for me...
By: Joe90 : October 20th, 2021-06:11
So I would go Titanium with blue dial. If I'm not mistaken the steel models come with a closed case back, so if this is important to you, then you might prefer the steel. Otherwise the Ti models come with a sapphire caseback. I can't comment on how it aff...
I love this watch SO MUCH--BUT

at 45mm... too big even these days... the bezel is a DIVE BAGEL... and... the date kills it for me... BUT... I still love it.
Decision Made

Thanks for all the comments. I decided to go with the classic Black dial SS and picked it up from my AD on Friday. Here it is (photo is by me! Not nearly as good as Henrik and the Blancpain blog...) Love my choice. Happy to add Blancpain to my collection....
You chose well.
