You’re right about mileage making a decent deal happen
We can only get to LA and back on one charge. Everywhere else we’d have to recharge on the road which costs more than at home. Except for the Supercharger network which is .26 / kWh in Calif.
Our time-of-day metering plan at home is .28 / kWh at night and up to .55 / kWh in the daytime. Plus the $1000 for charger with installation. So ideally you need solar too, which we don’t have for various reasons.
