You have a BMW?
That's awesome! I knew you had a P-Car and a kiddie hauler...
Personally, I really enjoy 3-series cars. The best car I've ever driven that was at a more reasonable price point (it wasn't reasonable, but it wasn't esoteric) was an E92 2012 328i coupe RWD that I had as a rental for three days. The traction was superb. Turn in was excellent. The engine was incredibly smooth and the power incredibly linear. The steering was perfect. The car was beautifully balanced. Suspension was very good, but tires were a bit too firm. Brakes could've been better. Goodness I miss that car. Best car I've ever driven that wasn't a Porsche or something very expensive. I didn't want to return that car. That car was truly very nearly perfect.
I've never driven the E36, I've driven the E46 and E92, which I have to say are among some of the best cars money can buy.
