Nice story Mike! We have had a few common cars: Caterham 7 & Lotus Elan.
Two comments:
- i have never felt really in security in either. The thin fibre glass versus the tube bath tab. To reassure myself, I always thought: at least I am safer than on a motorbike!
- can you drive without front registration plate in California? The cars look much better without!

One of my best memory with that car was driving for 2 laps the Le Mans track (the full 24h version, not the smaller Bugatti) just before Le Mans Classic. Driving down Mulsanne's straight (ahh les hunaudières...) at 170mk/h with a screaming 1600 cross flow...
