Next time you're in San Francisco, you ought to walk outside some of the car dealerships on Van Ness Avenue. You'll see a few dealerships built in the 1920s and many of them still have their original 1920s dealership look.

If I recall what the tour guide said correctly the collection is the work of two lifetimes. I seen to recall her stating that the founder's son had continued adding to the collection.
You aren't the only one who had never heard of it. Even the friend who I went with hadn't heard of it until recently and he makes a specialty of knowing about Los Angeles and it's surroundings.
