Beauty or beast ?
This eight year old bike feels like it's going to kill you any moment .... nowadays top-sports bikes produce over 200 bhp, this 1098 'only' produces 160 bhp but the 1100 cc long stroke V-twin produces such a high torque in such a brutal way (and then i haven't mentioned the later 1198 i tried a few years ago) it tries to throw you off every time you give it some throttle

.
Impossible to handle in the city where you constantly have to clutch-declutch at speeds under 50 kph, resulting in overtaking cars, busses, bicycles and other motorbikes at a rate of (at least) one every second. Compared to this devil the new 205 hp 1299 Panigale feels like a lightweight pussy-bike (unless you rev it full throttle over 8K rpm).
It should label BMW instead of Ducati as you get soo many hatefull looks of other road-users hoping you will soon crash it against a hard and fix object

.
Once you get on the open roads the bike rides and handles like a dream at speeds between 120 and 320 kph, best cruising speed should be around 160 to 220 kph depending on headwind and traffic offcourse.
So what the moral of this little story ? (again) ... you don't need brute power to have fun, but if you want to scare yourself to death it sure is the bike to add to your collection !
What do you think guys ? Beauty ? Beast ?
