My AP ROO is losing time...

May 16, 2018,17:21 PM

I had it serviced by AP last year because it was not keeping time properly. Now, it looks like the same thing all over again. It starts off keeping time and then drastically starts losing minutes until I’m hours behind!

I’m dreading sending my watch in again. This is going to be my fourth problem with an AP movement, same calibre. So, I think it’s time for AP to design a better movement because It’s been a while, and this one is unacceptable... Kind of ironic that people boast about in-house movements that suck, and talk crap about Luxury watches with trusty ETA 7750!
Who cares if you make it in-house if it’s not better?!!! I DON’T!

Losing hours sounds like damage or a serious power source issue.

One of the 3120-family calibers? Take it to a local watchmaker and run the basic tests to see if there's any obvious sign of a sick watch: amplitude, timing, etc. Put it on the watchmaker's winder and see if it continues to lose as much time with constant...

what bad luck...

to have 4 problems with the same calibre. Did the other watches came back and working fine? Maybe, this one needs extra care and best to send it in soon. In-house movement is not a guarantee for reliability. However, in-house would mean that they are in t...

My RO has the in house 3120

The first few weeks it ran fast-- 40 seconds or so a day. After that (and now 5+ years later) it runs perfectly and might be my most accurate watch. I think one issue with these movements is that they seem to get misaligned if the date is set while the ti...

Well, most newer movements don't, and you can set the date whenever you like.

But even the 2824 and the 7750 have safety measures to prevent mechanical damage to the movement when the date is set during the "bad time". Marcus

Your experience is not acceptable and the watch should be sent to

APNA service center with a full history. Their Clearwater service center is one of the best in the industry and will give you satisfaction. I / we are curious about your specific history- who did the service, which models, etc. Sometimes dealers dont send...

I also had an issue with the 3126 calibre,

but as already commented, don't change the date between 10:00 and 2:00, since I do that I don't have any issues with my watches and they are extremely accurate. Noticable is though, that the 3126, so the chrono, seems to be more affected from this than th...

More art and less science

I have accepted this fact with my AP. The daily deviations become blatantly obvious when putting my other watches through rotation and realizing it shouldn't be the case . This has been the case from the day of purchase of my 15202.

Wow. That’s sad.

Good thing my 15400 keeps good time now. It’s been running for more than a week already.

Horrible luck for you. I have enjoyed many APs over the years, only one had a timing issue.

And it was the Blue Scuba, which was powered with a JLC base as I recall. I will again vouch for the AP Clearwater Service Center. Best I have ever encountered. I would also like to hear details of the 4 problems, which watches, where were they serviced, ...

That is an irritating let down. Throws the fun right out of the widow. I have accepted the fact that these watches are delicate and not robust as one wud like them to be. You are..

..not the first one to share this prob but then again, the most popular of APROs Sold have 3120. So %wise cant say if the mvmt def has a problem. That issue with time setting during date change seems to be the culprit at most times and AP shud work on get...
